UNIQUE bound set of Ray Rimell's modelling features that appeared on the rear covers of the popular WINGS weekly partwork published by Orbis in 1977/80. The two page articles were frequently tied to a specific aircraft type described in the relevant issue and covered a wide selection of fascinating types. From WWI biplanes and WWII bombers and fighters-to modern commercial aircraft and RAF aerobatic teams ancient and modern, the author presented a rich wealth of plastic aeroplane modelling techniques that formed a regular part of the first 48 issues. One set only, professionally bound, signed by the author and despatched within a sturdy postal box.
IN 1976, Ray Rimell was commissioned by Orbis Publishing to contribute model aircraft features for their upcoming weekly part work 'WINGS-The Encyclopaedia of Aviation'...Under the title Miniature Air Fleets, the brief was to supply a model feature allied to one of the subjects covered in a particular issue. The challenge was to submit the material on a regular rolling basis with short deadlines that sometimes made the task a demanding one, and eventually 48 subjects were covered between 1977 and 1978. On completion of the project, the author collated all the instalments, had them professionally bound together and offers them now as a rare example of aviation modelling techniques. Subjects covered are diverse with various types of aircraft from many periods being presented and a few typical page spreads are illustrated alongside.
