THE Eduard 1:48 scale Morane Saulnier Type L forms the basis for a remarkable semi-scratchbuilt rework by master modeller Sanjeev Hirve in over six generously illustrated pages. Both colour and monochrome step-by-steps plus a full narrative explain how this magnificent model was realised from its brass rod box frame and plastic card wings to the intricate interior and engine detailing that belie the small scale. On other pages Dave Roberts offers chapter and verse on the finer [points of Albatros D.III structure and supports the narrative with half a dozen highly informative images. We preview the six brand new 1;48 scale Fokker D.VII kits released by Roden in late 2003 and Rudy Hofling takes a a good look at the Austro Hungarian MAG built versions with 12 rare images from his personal archives. Tom Doherty has a colour photo log of a restored Curtiss Jenny to airworthiness and Alberto Casirati offers more colour images to showcase the completed restoration of Ansaldo A-1 16553 in Bergamo. As well as all the usual departments, there's a three page section of reviews that include Eduard Camels for which we supply eight colour images of the RAFM Camel's cockpit to help modellers with superdetailing.Previews abound and Les Watts offers build notes for Roden and Aeroclub models of the Albatros D.V,BE12,RE8 ,Strutter and SE5a.Closing the issue is the editor's rear cover painting of a famous action involving a Morane Saulnier Type L and a Zeppelin in 1915...
