FABULOUS FOKKERS!

Exclusive new Fokker D.VIII colour profiles herald a new series and the 23rd instalment of our AZ of WWI aeroplane kits continues with the larger scale Fokker Triplanes produced-and there are quite a lot of them! To render authentic weathering on a Fokker D.VII, we have all the necessary  guidance and our special ten page photo/plans feature centres on the attractive AVRO 504LK floatplane with 1:48 and 1:72 scale plans coupled with over 21 rare photos of great variety-courtesy of maestro Jack Bruce. Elsewhere there are six pages of kit, decal and figure reviews and a colourful  Gallery selection reveals the true talents of our dedicated readership. With a colour report on WWI entries at the 1996 IPMS Nationals plus extended leader columns this is yet another great edition!

FOKKERS LITTLE AND LARGE...

Leading feature is from a Russian historian and deals with the mixed bag of Allied and Central Powers aircraft captured and produced under licence by the Soviets-it's a rare piece with plenty of photos! This time our plans feature centres on the Italian Pomilio Gamma 1F   biplanes-both prototypes are drawn in the two popular scales by Colin A Owers in a special eight page feature. We have another of our model kit surveys on-this covering small scale Fokker Triplanes kits produced down the years in a variety of scales and materials.San Diego's beautiful full-scale Fokker E.III reproduction is emblazoned across the outer covers with more images and story inside. Gallery has some top-notch entrants from our readership and, also in colour,is a trio of Siemens Schuckert profiles to accompany the detailed review of  a new 1:72 scale kit on pages 30 and 31. All the usual departments with some fascinating comments from our postbag, whilst Product's seven pages  include decals, accessories and figures with  over a dozen new kits revealed: Aeroclub's 1:48 scale 'Biff'; Blue Max Roland C.II; Czech resins from CMK and RVHP in resin; Breguet 14 from CMK and the unique Omega Models LFW American trainer for which we have four detail close-ups of the sole survivor-and it's not in the USA! From Toko are the Pfalz D.XII and Siemens Schuckert D.III/D.IV.

THE LAST HALBERSTADT C.V!

Among the highlights of this edition are drawings of the RNAS bomb carrier as fitted to Warneford's MoS L when he shot down  Zeppelin LZ 37 over Ghent in 1915, and the unique Russian  Villish VM-5 flying boat features in our 'Despatches from St Petersburg 'series edited by Harry Woodman. For this issue's plans feature we present the unusual  Beardmore WB.IV with its mid fuselage Hisso powerplant and jettisonable undercarriage: 1:48 and 1:72 GAs  are supported by over a dozen crisp archive images. Elsewhere, Colin Owers offers up  nine monotone profiles and 14 photos showcasing the famous American trainer, the Curtiss JN.4 Jenny with examples from Love Field and Kelly Field; a USN machine and one from Argentina as well as an Ambulance conversion! We look forward to dozens of upcoming WWI models scheduled for release during 1989/1999 and  we close the issue with Decor Debut concentrating on a newly-discovered Fokker D.VIII of Jasta 6. Outer covers carry eight colour images of the sole-remaining Halberstadt C.V in Belgium and Products looks at a bevy of new releases including: CSM Dornier D.I in 1:48;  AMC Morane Saulnier I and Sopwith Navy Pup- also 1:48, plus Pegasus 1:72 Albatros D.I/D.II and a 'strip-down' PE/plastic Fokker D.VIII from Eduard to the same scale.

  A BEVY OF BRISTOLS!

Everything is 'Bristol Fashion' in this edition which features lead features on post-war Bristol Fighter markings along with a detailed build log of the 1:48 scale Aeroclub Bristol Fighter as featured on the front cover. We also take a close look at  Bristol Fighters in post-war Polish service with rare photos and three new colour profiles on the rear cover. All the regular columns are here together with Gallery in colour with some great models including a scratch-built airship and a Voisin III. On other pages we have more intimate aspects of the San Diego Fokker Eindecker reproduction in colour and monotone, plus a unique look into LVG two-seater construction in a copy of the company's 1917 catalogue-some great assembly aspects are seen. Photos of a captured French SPAD and Nieuport in German hands precede the main features and at the opposite end of the issue is Products. Among the kits under review are: 1:48 Eduard Albatros Dr.I and Nieuport 17; Flashback/AMC E.III Eindecker ; an E.V Flying Razor  in Osterkamp's bright MFJ colours and a W 29 Brandenburg seaplane. Also in 1:48 is the JMGT all-resin Pfalz E.I and in 1:72, a new Fokker Triplane from Hawkeye-also resin-and Toko's delightful Nieuport Bebe.
