FABULOUS FOKKERS!

Exclusive new Fokker D.VIII colour profiles herald a new series and the 23rd instalment of our AZ of WWI aeroplane kits continues with the larger scale Fokker Triplanes produced-and there are quite a lot of them! To render authentic weathering on a Fokker D.VII, we have all the necessary  guidance and our special ten page photo/plans feature centres on the attractive AVRO 504LK floatplane with 1:48 and 1:72 scale plans coupled with over 21 rare photos of great variety-courtesy of maestro Jack Bruce. Elsewhere there are six pages of kit, decal and figure reviews and a colourful  Gallery selection reveals the true talents of our dedicated readership. With a colour report on WWI entries at the 1996 IPMS Nationals plus extended leader columns this is yet another great edition!

IN this first issue of the year, Dave Roberts shows the correct way to accurately weather Fokker D.VII models with plenty of ideas to inspire those working in any scale, whilst Jack Bruce presents a photo-study of the Avro 504L-a floatplane version of the famous 504K trainer with over 20 photos of various examples in international schemes. Colin Owers provides centre-spread 1:48 and 1:72 scale plans for anyone contemplating some novel modifications to existing kits. We continue 'The Windsock A-Z of scale WWI warplanes' series with Part 23a concentrating on the myriad large scale Fokker Triplane kits produced down the years from Hasegawa to Aero-Base and plenty of others in between including those old-stagers from Revell and Aurora. We visit the 1997 IPMS Nationals at Castle Donnington with some amazing WWI entrants in colour and we kick off a brand new series:Decor Debut which features popular subjects based on newly-discovered photos. The first is the Fokker D.VIII with striped tail and snake-emblazoned fuselage depicted in an exclusive colour profile.Extended Propwash, Logbook and Products columns provide even more fascinating variety with reviews of the delicate 1:48 scale AJP brass-framed tissue covered models of Avro Triplanes and pre-war French classics. We also look at new resin Felixstowe and Short 184 kits in 1:48  from South Africa plus new decals, figures and even some WWI tanks. Finishing off with Readers' Gallery in colour where a fantastic R/C flying AW FK8 'Big Ack' takes centre stage.
