THE third Vintage Warbirds title published by Arms and Armour Press, R.A.F between the Wars, comprised 64 image-rich pages devoted to an era still dominated by biplanes but which saw a wide variety of fighters, two-seaters and bombers. In this softback, author Ray Rimell presents over 112 period images from the ex-WWI Sopwith Snipe to the Supermarine Type 224 monoplane of 1934 which would lead to development of the legendary Spitfire. Many classic types are illustrated in these pages: famous fighter aircraft such as the Siskin; Bulldog; Flycatcher; Fury; Gauntlet; Grebe and the two-seat Hawker Hart family; Wapiti; Seal and Swordish. The RAF during the 1930s also fielded a variety of bombers such as the Sidestrand; Virginia; Heyford; Hendon and many more. All these aircraft are illustrated along with the seaplanes, the flying boats and the record breakers. We have three copies in stock, all feature slight creasing of their covers and all are signed by the author.
