No.62, THE DEHAVILLAND DH 9

DRESSED TO THE NINES!

The de Havilland DH9 is the subject of this Jack Bruce-authored Profile and who better to record the development and turbulent service career of the DH4 'replacement' that fell short of expectations due in most part to its capricious Puma powerplant. Despite various shortcomings, the 'Nine' was produced in quantity and post war airframes were in plentiful supply. Various experimental conversions for civilian operators gave the aircraft a new lease of life after the war.

THIS was the 62nd Profile, published in October 1965 it covers the much-maligned de Havilland DH9 day bomber in great detail thanks to the diligence and expertise of author Jack Bruce. His concise commentary is supported by 24 photos that present a rich variety of markings, both wartime and post-war including several civilian conversions. Colour art on inner covers is well up to the high standard typical of resident artists  Peter Endsleigh Castle and Richard Ward. The five view colour frontispiece of B7620 from No.211 Squadron RAF was the first time this DH9 with its multiple white stripes was published-it has formed the basis of many kit decal sheets ever since...We have just the one copy in VGC.
