No.56, THE FAIRY FLYCATCHER
FLEET FLYER!
THE 56th Profile Publication was devoted to the Fairey Flycatcher, a highly successful Naval fighter of the 1930s that served exclusively with the Fleet Air Arm aboard six Royal Navy aircraft carriers. In this excellent study written by Owen Thetford, there are over two dozen captivating photos and some excellent colour profiles on the inner covers by James Goulding and Richard Ward: in a break from tradition there's a perspective colour illustration of floatplane N9678 to emphasize its stencil markings.
THIS concise and authoritative monograph described the development and operational career of the FAA Fairey Flycatcher and written by noted historian Owen Thetford who provides chapter and verse on the popular early Naval fighter. His narrative is supported by over two dozen period photos which will prove invaluable to modellers of this compact aeroplane. Colour profiles on inner covers include a five-view illustrating S1286 aboard HMS Furious in 1931; colourful examples operating from four individual fleet carriers and a brace of floatplanes. Slight creasing of cover but in otherwise this 1965 Profile remains in good condition.
