ONE of the most attractive fighter designs of WWI, the slim line Pfalz D.III with its trademark silber finish is a perennial favourite with modellers and it's not hard to see why. Peter L Gray relates the history of this gracile machine contributing 30 archive images and one contemporary factory drawing of the prototype. Great colour art graces the inner covers and our 1965-dated copies remain in good condition with some minor crease. Until the release of The Blue Max in cinemas a year later, few outside the small coterie of WWI aero enthusiasts had ever heard of the Pfalz but its prominent role in the film changed all that.
