No.31, THE SOPWITH CAMEL

THE CAMELS ARE COMING!

One of the most popular of the WWI Profiles, the (in)famous Sopwith Camel is given the full treatment by Jack Bruce who provides a concise, fascinating account of the fighter's development, wartime and post-war service  with plenty of tabular data. Our few remaining copies, published in 1965,are a little careworn but complete-a superb record of a true WWI classic and modellers' favourite.

Undoubtedly the most instantly recognisable of all British WWI warplanes, the capricious Camel, a powerful twin-gunned design created by Herbert Smith building on previous experience with the Pup and Triplane, was a worthy successor. The Camel proved hugely effective in the hands of experienced pilots and built in substantial numbers. Jack Bruce authored this excellent Profile, No.31 in the series, which contains over a dozen photos and really top-class colour art on its inner covers depicting nine Camels including a USN version with flotation gear and hydrofoil.
