MEDAL OF HONOUR Volume 1

US AVIATORS OF WW1!

Excellent and profusely illustrated record of seven US airman who received the prestigious Medal Of Honor in WWI. Many photos and colour plates add gravitas to the authoritative text. Comes with bonus materials:  Rickenbacker/Luke decal sheets and colour notes for 1:32 scale Roden SPAD 13 kit and more.

ONE of  many WWI aircraft softbacks published by Flying Machines Press was 'Medal Of Honor Volume 1' by Alan E Durkota providing chapter and verse on the eight US pilots awarded this prestigious medal in the conflict. With over 125 photos,16 pages of colour profiles by Juanita Franzi and Jean Galli, the 112 page book relates stirring stories of  an octet of American aviators including Eddie Rickenbacker and Frank Luke-who both naturally take centre-stage. The author has carefully researched his subjects and the various colour plates of SPADs, Nieuports, DH4s and Macchi/Curtiss floatplanes will be appreciated by modellers as will the plentiful collation of rare photos. The cover has a slight crease and a faded spine, but otherwise this copy is in VGC and comes with several bonus items! These include a photo print of a 94th AEF Nieuport 28 flightline; 1:32 Roden SPAD 13 decal sheets for Rickenbacker and Luke, plus colour profiles and paint call-outs. Another 1:32 scale decal sheet contains markings for French ace Nungesser  along with British, French and Italian subjects.
