THE 1915 Gotha G.I,  with its distinctive underslung wing cellule, was one of the most  instantly recognisable of the successful bomber series that later served the German Army Air Service so well over British skies in 1917-1918. The full service and development history of the G.I is presented by Peter M Grosz along with 60 unique archive photos and six pages of detailed scale drawings-an unrivalled package for modellers. In addition, this now scarce DATAFILE includes contemporary factory drawings, as well as colours data supported by colour profiles on the outer rear cover. First published in September 2000,this title has been out of print for some time but we have a single copy remaining which is in mint condition.

THE REALLY BIG ONE!

* ENTIRELY complete, mint example of the amazing 2010 Wingnut Wings Gotha G.IV in breath-taking 1:32 scale is an absolute behemoth spanning nearly 30 ins. when built!  Our example has a full colour xerox copy instruction manual-the original being inexplicably lost-but everything else is exactly as packed by the factory. All the frames remain in their original cellophane sleeve -and that includes the extensive decal and PE sheets. This is undeniably the most extraordinary example of a WWI aeroplane ever kitted and only surpassed by Wingnut Wings themselves with introduction of their mind-blowing Felixstowe flying boats released a few years' later. Aside from a few creases, the capacious and  colourful box is in overall good shape, whilst the contents inside it are in top-notch condition.

AURORA KIT NO.126-1-97-GOTHA BOMBER ORIGINAL

THIS classic Aurora kit was moulded in rich metallic burgundy with extensive 'accessories' moulded in black and includes five figures along with an extended ground-base. Due to its popularity it became something of a kit collector's 'Holy Grail' in the 1960s prompting a private enthusiast to collaborate with Aurora  issuing an additional 1000 run to be sold at bargain prices.  Comparing main parts with more recent scale drawings shows them to be tolerably accurate in scale and outline providing a sound basis upon which to build whilst refining some of the chunkier aspects. Misshapen bombs and incorrectly-shaped power eggs are main drawbacks,  the latter proving a challenge of remodelling. Our genuine 1958  kit includes 1:48 scale nacelle drawings for adventurous modellers wishing to scratch-build their own... Decals provide markings for one machine. Some marks on box...

 K&B KIT NO.1126-1-97-GOTHA G.V.

MODEST overhaul of Aurora's original 1958 126-1-98, the K&B reissue formed part of their 'Collectors Series' which typically featured new decals and a box-filling vacformed ground base of dubious value all packed within large attractive boxes showcasing stunning artwork by John Amendola. The Gotha contains 66 deep blue parts with 51 'accessories' on black runners-the original kit's five figures are also included but not the groundbase with its chocks. Despite the opprobrium heaped upon the original kit since first release, it became the holy grail of kit collecting in the 1960s prompting a private enthusiast to collaborate with Aurora issuing 1000 'replica' kits at bargain prices. The following year Aurora relaunched the kit themselves with some minor revisions. Comparing the kit's major components with latter-day scale plans shows them to be tolerably accurate in scale and outline providing a sound platform to build on whilst refining chunkier aspects.  Inaccurate bombs and incorrectly- shaped engine 'power eggs' are the main failings, the latter proving a challenge of re-modelling. Our kit includes 1:48 scale drawings of the nacelles for adventurous  modellers wishing to make their own... Decals provide both styles of national insignia with only the eiserne kreuze matching embossed wing and rudder positions... 

BURKHARD'S BOMBERS!

WITH the outer covers featuring dramatic art by Brian Knight and Harry Woodman, this 1994 60 page monograph by PM Grosz remains the best illustrated history of the WWI German Gotha bombers yet published. Over 85 rare archive images, 20 pages of 1:72 and 1:48 scale detailed drawings of the G.II; G.III; G.IV; G.V and G.Vb variants and contemporary wartime component sketches, this is essential reference for anyone building available Gotha model kits. Close ups of armament and ordnance are supported by detailed camouflage and markings text plus referenced captions for the 13 colour profile subjects and the monograph is topped off with model kit reviews and detailed appendices. This original first edition is in very good order with virtually zero creases anywhere.

GROUND-BREAKING GOTHA!

FIRST in a series of superb 1:72 scale  WWI German Gotha models from Roden of the Ukraine*, this kit provides parts and decals for the G.II and G.III versions and contains over 240 well-detailed parts. Many of these are common to later versions that followed in the wake of this initial 2001 release so there's plenty of spares to be squirrelled away. Accurate in outline, the top-notch kit contains a complete fuselage gun tunnel with plenty of cockpit parts and clear window transparencies. Decals for three aircraft are provided, including the dramatic skull-emblazoned 389/16 of Kaghol II in dark green camouflage. The contents of our example remain in mint condition within their slightly battered box.

RETURN OF RODEN'S REMARKABLE RAIDER!

HERE is the G.IV version with many common parts from the previous G.II/G.III kit but this one includes two new frames [ B and D ] along with  a far more extensive decal sheet presenting six options.* This time the parts are moulded in  pale buff and a few of them bear some flash that needs careful eradication. As with all these Gotha kits, the surface detail is first rate and their overall accuracy is praiseworthy. Our kit is in mint condition and includes some great extras in the form of a Brengun PE detail set and Techmod's excellent decals with their six markings' options offering multiple choices of finish.
