 DREIDECKER!!!

The second WWI Scale Model Anthology title by Ray Rimell with Richard Alexander concludes our in-depth coverage of the legendary Fokker Dr I Triplane flown by many of Germany’s leading WWI fighter pilots including Werner Voss, Ernst Udet, Paul Baumer and the von Richthofen brothers. This packed  publication provides the ultimate modelling guide to building, detailing and finishing 1:24 and 1:32 scale Fokker Dr.I kits released by Meng Models (ex-Wingnut Wings) in 2020/2021.

Main contents:

Representing F.I 103/17 on the day Voss was shot down with revised colours and markings, weathering and repairs-all supported by archive photos and detailed captions.

Over 20 all-new profiles by Ronny Bar provide detailed artwork of 19 individual Jasta triplanes including a multi-view centre-spread plus the four 1:24 scale Meng decal options being presented in their correct colours and markings. Juanita Franzi provides  fully revised port, starboard, upper and lower views on the rear covers illustrating typical factory-applied camouflage, serial and stencil applications along with expanded notes. All main colour profiles in the new book have been reproduced to 1:32 scale.

Ray Rimell builds two 1:32 scale Meng Dr.I examples: an early version in the markings of DR.I 204/17 and a late version flown by Jasta 14 in 1918. Step by step photos feature in each guide backed up by special archive photo sections.

Meng 1:32 scale DR.I 425/17 featured in Volume 1 has been reworked to accurately represent the Red Baron’s iconic triplane in its ultimate April 1918 appearance.

From The Vintage Aviator Ltd., in New Zealand are great colour close-up details of reproduction Le Rhone and Oberursel rotary engines providing vital reference for modellers.

The 1:24 scale Meng Triplane is given in-depth treatment by Ray in a 25-page heavily-illustrated build log adding extra detail and modifications as required. The author also shows how to apply commercially-available streaked camouflage decals with ease.

Thanks to the generosity of leading historians, a unique selection of Dr.I  archive photos is presented, many published for the very first time. Generous proportions allow for invaluable smaller details to be appreciated

The 76-page book concludes with an illustrated addenda to Volume I along with further aspects of this classic WWI German fighter aircraft hitherto unrecorded...

For serious modellers of the Fokker Triplane we present a vital modelling resource which will also appeal to a broader spectrum of WWI enthusiasts, historians, flying scale fans, artists and repro’ builders.
