AIR WAR OVER GREAT BRITAIN

FATHERS OF THE FEW...

The 'first Battle of Britain' is pictorially recorded by Ray Rimell in this 64 page monograph detailing the air raids over England in 1914-1918. 116 rare photos, individually captioned, tell the dramatic story of the campaign waged by German Army and Naval forces and the ultimately successful efforts of the RFC and RNAS to thwart them. Ppublished by Arms and Armour in 1987, our last few copies are signed by the author.

No.7 in the Arms and Armour Vintage Warbirds series of 1997 was this 64 page pictorial album Air War over GREAT BRITAIN 1914-1918 written-and in this case signed-by Raymond L Rimell. The carefully selected images accompanied by detailed and authoritative captions tell the dramatic history when the civilian populace of the country was first bombed from the air by German Army and Naval divisions-first with airships and then-more successfully-by bombing aeroplanes. From 1914 when a lone German seaplane struck at Dover,to the Armistice when many aircraft were seized including the amazing giant R Plane bombers with wingspans exceeding those of WW2 Lancasters, the coverage is extensive. There are over 116 photos in this concise softback with images of the attacking German bombers and myriad British aeroplanes of the RFC and RNAS sent up to thwart them. As the war ground on British Home Defence units began to exact a heavy toll and many German airships and aeroplanes were shot down-most fell on British soil and were a great source of interest to the general public and Intelligence units. Some images of these groundings are shown. Our few remaining copies are in good condition with minor cover creases.
