AG No.2 -ME Bf 109E

THE ENIGMATIC EMIL!

If you thought the Spitfire was small then placed alongside, the Messerschmitt BF 109E is positively diminutive. This iconic German WWII fighter is carefully chronicled in this second Aeroguide Classic published in 1986 with over 72 archive and close up photos; six line sketches; three pages of monotone camouflage and markings profiles; a superb airframe cutaway spread over the centre pages and a colour profile on the rear cover depicting a late Battle of Britain participant. Our copies are a little yellowed in places with some minor staining on a few of the folios but it is complete. 32 A4 pages with card covers and signed by the author.

Possibly the most well known of the myriad Messerschmitt Bf 109 German fighters operating in WWII, the E variant was the main protagonist of the Hurricanes and Spitfires throughout the Battle of Britain. It can trace its genesis as far back as 1934 and early production versions were 'blooded' in the Spanish Civil War that became the proving ground for the emergent Luftwaffe. This Aeroguide Classic traces the development cycle of the type with two dozen archive images; over 45 close-up detail shots of the RAF Museum's Me Bf 109E-3B that showcase intimate external details, undercarriage and cockpit. In addition, there are six line drawings showing cowling variations; armament layouts; bombs and drop tank plus canopy development. I:72 scale four view monotone drawings of a Swiss service Bf 109E-3 together with and additional five camouflage profiles and a colour plate on the rear cover of 109E-4 of No.1 Staffel Udet complete this elegant guide. We have two signed copies a little careworn in places but complete.
