1918 DUAL-MONARCHY FIGHTER!
THIS is an original May 1994-published DATAFILE and our third WWI LFT subject which proved to be one of our best sellers. Written by historian Peter M Grosz, the operational and development history of this fighter are meticulously chronicled describing the four Series variations over 36 pages. The book contains over 60 archive photos; nine pages of hyper-detailed 1:72 and 1:48 scale plans by Steve Simkin; pages of close-up details; four-page 1918 British capture report with sketches plus expanded colours and markings data complemented with rear cover colour profiles.. One copy only with yellowed cover that nevertheless does not compromise Jim Dietz's superlative artwork...
THE high-scoring Austro-Hungarian air ace Freidrich Hefty of Flik 28 claimed that the Berg D.I ...'in its final form was the equal of the SPAD..' The Aviatik fighter in its various series permutations was indeed one of the best LFT fighters to serve in WWI. Peter M Grosz provides a fulsome history of this feisty fighter with over 60 historically rare photos from his extensive archive. Draftsman Steve Simkin contributes nine pages of highly detailed multi-view drawings in both 1:72 and 1:48 scales, whilst a special six page section contains many close-up photos of engine installation variations, cockpits and armament layout. This image-laden DF also includes the official 1918 Air Ministry report on D.I 138.267 together with 16 sketches that modellers will find invaluable when building the many kits available of this famous fighter. The book concludes with detailed camouflage notes plus a unique colour mixing chart, hexagonal camouflage descriptive sketches and a comprehensive appendix. The book has slight browning around its cover edges but is nevertheless complete.
