AN ALBATROS FOR THE ACOLYTES!

KITSET #32046 was fully reviewed in the Spring 2016 edition of WINDSOCK WWC and since this has been unavailable for some time, we have scanned the relevant pages for presentation here. Hard copies are inside the box along with three pages of archive and close-up photos that appeared in the same issue. Over 150 parts include a generous number of alternative parts and expansive decal sheets present authentic laminated wood sections to cover the fuselage. The kit on offer is mint, a few box creases aside, with none of the factory-sealed bags having been opened.  The excellent instruction booklet provides hyper-detailed building stages, many archive close up images and Ronny Bar's superb art offers precise guidance for the five markings' options.

*CONTAINS SPOKED METAL WHEELS PLUS  GASPATCH TURNBUCKLES!

SUPERB Wingnut Wings kitset of the historically important and long-serving Albatros B.II  released on 27 November 2015. The B.II was introduced as early as 1913 and proved reliable and easy to fly leading to mass production by seven sub-contractors that continued throughout the war and well after the Armistice with over 3200 eventually built. Wingnut Wing's surprise release marked a defining moment for the New-Zealand base company founded by Oscar-winning film director Sir Peter Jackson and the Albatros remains one of their finest releases. It includes over 150 highly detailed parts including side-mounted Hazet radiators; optional airscrews; exhaust manifolds and covered or uncovered wheels; a choice of 12 x 5kg PuW or 20 kg Carbonit bombs and Daimler 100-hp D.I and 120-hp D.II engines. There's a PE sheet bearing over a dozen precision pieces, including spoked wheel centres, and two box-filling decal sheets presenting not only the markings for five different aircraft but also photo-realistic 1:32 scale faux ply cookie -cut panels to clad the entire fuselage!

The Albatros was fully reviewed in the Spring 2016 edition of WINDSOCK World War Centenary (Vol.32, No.1) a popular issue that has since sold out, so the relevant pages have been digitized and accompany this entry, hard copies being included with the kit along with three pages of B.II archive images that appeared in the same volume. Taken together these articles provide plenty of useful background to this fabulous kit for which we have added a pair of finished metal spoked wheels with weathered rubber tyres and some GasPatch turnbuckles. Our example is mint; the instruction booklet has been removed from its sleeve but all six part's frames remain in their original factory-sealed packages, never opened. The same goes for the decals in a separate sleeve that also contains the PE fret. Admittedly, the box has a few minor creases but these do not detract from Steve Anderson's masterful artwork...
