SILVER BIRD!
THE original and first release of Wingnut Wing's highly popular and top-selling Pfalz D.IIIa that appeared in 2010 to great acclaim from a great many WWI modelling enthusiasts. This superbly-detailed model kit formed the main review/build article* in the Volume 26, No.6 edition of WINDSOCK International that soon sold out-as did the kit itself. Our example of the WNW Pfalz is complete and in mint condition, whilst the original factory-sealed clear poly sleeves were missing from this second-hand model so have been replaced with our own plastic bags for added protection-including the decal/manual packet. The kit packs a number of extra items in the box: an HGW full detailing set; Master brass 'Spandau' barrels and firing tubes, plus a full Aviattic Pfalz D.IIIa five-colour 'lozenge decal set with wings and tail elements pre-cut and the requisite tapes in situ. Just cut out and apply-but carefully! This unique package is the first of several similar WNW Pfalz offers that will be coming to this shop in due course...

ONE of the most popular WWI German fighters with modellers for decades, the Pfalz D.III and D.IIIa have been kitted numerous times but Wingnut Wings' original 1:32 scale kit,first issued in 2010, is undoubtedly the best of them all by a country mile. Moulded in the usual medium grey, there are five densely-packed runners of exceptionally well-detailed and accurate parts presenting a highly-detailed cockpit unit plus a dedicated standard runner with both 160-hp and 180-hp Mercedes engine parts with some additional unused 200-hp Benz items. That a Pfalz D.III was planned for future release is confirmed by the parts layout and identification stamps, along with a D.III style lower wing-also appropriate to the D.IIIa-included as an alternative. PE sheet provides a pair of complete 'Spandau' cooling jackets, full pilot harness and radiator blind complete with handle. Five choices on the generous decal content provide a colourful bunch of 'Pfalzen' including Max Holzem's comet-marked D.IIIa of Jasta 16b; two examples from Jasta 18-Max Hitschler's blue and red bird and the highly attractive red and white raben-marked machine flown by Hans Muller. Also on the crowded main sheet,markings for 5983/17 of Jasta 30's Hans Buddecke and the blue/red striped 8143/17 of Walter Ewers in Jasta 77b. In addition are a prodigious amount of cockpit instrument faces and stencilling as well as ample supplies of printed fabric and rib tapes.
