1:72 WARBIRDS/RAREPLANES PFALZ D.III
LIGHTWEIGHT VAC PFALZ PLUS ESSENTIAL READING!
Mint example of a 1980 issue Warbirds/Rareplanes 1:72 scale vacform kit for the German Pfalz D.III-no brass-etch; no resin and no decals- just an accurate form that could be turned into a real showstopper as explained in the rare copy of Scale Models that ships with it. Pure nostalgia in every way possible!
This is a mint example of one of the first Warbirds vacforms, a limited series of WWI subjects produced under the pioneering Rareplanes banner conceived by the late Gordon Stevens so many years ago. Most all the parts required are pressed into this small square of plastic and very fine they are too.The kit was the subject of a detailed build log/review in the October 1980 edition of Scale Models-the best selling 'Biplane Special'- and a near mint copy of this issue is included in this package. It provides all the data you need to produce an exquisite model from the vacform sheet with challenging and enjoyable extra work as shown in the accompanying images of Ray Rimell's completed model. The magazine also features detailed builds of the Matchbox 1:32 Tiger Moth and 1:72 Handley Page Heyford; the ancient Frog 1:87 scale DH 86 Rapide, plus the Airfix (ex-Merit!) Hawker Fury in 1:48.
The various features and many supporting advertisements are typical of the golden age of scale model publishing when SM was at the forefront of the genre. Those were the days alright with this multi-page bumper issue retailing for just 55p!
