1:72 TEM3K MORANE SAULNIER TYPE I
BELARUS BULLET!
An impressive 1:72 scale kit of a Morane Saulnier Type I monoplane that somewhat trumps the 1965 Revell kit with superior detail and accurate fuselage outlines. Relatively few parts offer a straightforward build and transforming it into an authentic-looking miniature will not be difficult. This scarce and unique model kit resides in a well-crumpled box which we have tried to address without much joy. However the plastic content is unaffected and extra decals have been supplied featuring more of those well-known macabre rudder markings...
*(Reviewed in WINDSOCK International,Vol.11,No.2 March/April 1995)
ALL the way from Belarus in 1995 came this quality plastic kit of the Morane Saulnier Type I in 1:72 scale containing 26 parts on two runners. More detailed than the 1965 Revell kit, it featured accurate outlines and commendable surface detail with fine-sectioned undercarriage and fuselage pylons. Although the wing rib detail is over-stated the trailing edge scalloping offers greater authenticity. Fuselage halves bear good stringer and metal panel detailing although no cockpit parts are on offer-not even a seat. The engine is basic but barely visible beneath the accurate 'bowl' spinner with its separate airscrew blades. The decal sheet features authentic narrow-ringed roundels and the famous skull and crossbones markings on a black rectangle to merge with black-painted surfaces. Tiny MS plates are supplied for the cowling. Markings are applicable to a pair of Type I monoplanes operated by the 19th Air Regiment,1st Air Group as flown by top Russian pilots A Kozakov and I Smirnov. An extra bonus decal sheet is included in a battered fold-out box that has suffered from long tenure in our attic! Nevertheless what's important are its contents which are mint and have now been sealed in several polybags to prevent loss or damage.
