ECLECTIC EINDECKERS!

SOLD here as a pair, these late 1916-dated  Fokker fighters from ICM provide accurate and well-detailed miniatures of the ultimate multi-gunned, multi-engined Eindeckers with their distinctive deeper cowlngs that feature plentiful cooling slots. Both kits are brand new and complete, with all parts now repackaged in polybags for added protection although the heavy-duty boxes are more than sufficient for purpose. All contents are mint and complete and come with detailed instructions and painting notes as well as parts' layouts and rigging guides. The Pfalz is particularly attractive with customary black-painted  areas, although the trademark black surrounds and rib battens will require careful representation using after-market decal strips and the fuselage will also require shortening...

HERE BE WHALES!

Popular vintage WWI classic from Airfix, the Roland C.II  (Pattern No. 120) was an exceptional release for the time. It was a bold gamble by  any mainstream manufacturer for WWI aeroplane kits were few and far between in 1965 although its two wing struts and attractive design may have been contributory factors in selecting it for production. Comprising over  30  parts with four small transparencies, the model is well detailed with beautifully sculpted crew figures. Content of our example is moulded in light grey-being a later issue- and is in mint condition although the decals have been affected by age. The original polythene bag was degraded and split in places so the kit parts are now confined in a replacement closely matching original packaging.

THE ANCIENT MARINER!

RELEASED in January 2003, this Roden W 4 represented the early version of the 'sea-booted albatross' and contained five runners of well-moulded and highly comprehensive parts*, some being intended for the late version which followed. Other than some excess of flash, the kit features exemplary surface detail throughout and the Ukrainian toolmakers can be commended for their prowess in producing such a fine set of parts. The pontoons have their upper surfaces co-joined via fine struts which may prove problematic when removing seam lines from the joined main sections. Decals provide a choice of three marine numbers in the correct font for the plain finish applicable to the options offered depicted in colour under the box. Aside from a few minor creases to the latter, this is a mint example of one of Roden's best Albatros kits with first-class instructions  that include two useful rigging diagrams.

ABOVE AVERAGE ALBATROS!

BY early 2002, Roden of the Ukraine  had already produced some excellent 1:72 WWI scale aircraft kits such as Gothas and Fokker D.VII fighters in all the major versions. Now they began to turn their attention to the Albatros single seaters, eventually producing over a dozen high-quality kits, from the D.I to the W.4 floatplanes. Kit No.001 offered a highly ambitious and comprehensive set of parts that shared multiple choices over five crowded runners. All of these are in mint condition as is the five-option decal sheet, and the internal card stiffening, designed to protect the contents, was a surprising and welcome addition. Evocative artwork adorns the box top of this accurate and well-detailed Albatros D.I with colour views and Humbrol paint call-outs beneath. Apart from some flash, typical of these Roden kits, contents are  in mint condition.

FROM THE PULPIT...

 AN impressive 1:72 scale kit of the radical SPAD S.A-2 'Pulpit' fighter from Amodel  of Ukraine with worldwide  distribution by IBG of Poland. This 1915 French design solved the problem of arming warplanes with a forward-firing gun- before synchronized systems were developed- by having the observer/gunner positioned ahead of the spinning engine and airscrew in a novel self-contained nacelle. It found favour with other Allied manufacturers, the most notable example being the RAF BE9. Very much a limited-run affair, the kit is accurate and well-detailed with some surprisingly thin components that demand extra care when removing them from their runners.  Decals provide markings for a 1916 Russian air service machine with multiple roundels and rudder serial S.54. Both these and the plastic content is as-new with the box being a little creased in a few areas. One only...

REVELL'S EARLY BIRDS!

BACK in 1965, Revell released a unique WWI themed threesome in 1:72 scale-all of them 1915/1916 fighter designs. The British de Havilland DH2  pusher (H-643); French Morane Saulnier Type N monoplane (H-664) and the notorious German Fokker E.III Eindecker ( H-665) were mostly accurate and certainly original subjects that had not been kitted to this scale before. We have all three US-boxed versions, each bearing Brian Knight's fabulous artwork slightly changed from his originals for Revell GB in the UK where the trio was first released. All three  kits are in very good condition although their box lower trays show some wear and creasing.

*The DH2 is moulded in beige and includes a stand from a spare kit and also a two-option high-quality decal sheet courtesy of the Revell Germany 2007 reissue.

*The Morane is moulded in white plastic and exhibits some flash on smaller parts. It includes the original kit decal sheet with markings for the Imperial Russian Type N flown by Smirnov and the macabre rudder motif.

* Finally, the Eindecker. Moulded in beige with the stand and a spare rudder in light grey from a later reissue. The original kit decals offer markings for E.III 210/16 and wing eiserne kreuze show evidence of cracking so the excellent 2008 Revell Germany sheet has been included as compensation. This carries markings of two aircraft and includes stencils as well as wing compass and leather cockpit padding.

All three kits include their original instructions, copyrighted Revell GB, all  have been checked for completeness and parts  carefully secured within ziploc bags to prevent escapes. We are offering these excellent kits as a unique 3-in-1 package which is available only from this website...

SE5A DOUBLE PLUS EXTRA DECAL SETS!

THIS 1980 re-issue of the popular Revell SE5a contains TWO complete kits of the revised 2007 mouldings with extra parts-and both models are  in mint condition. Our box-filling example comes with extra decal sheets that will provide eight colourful alternatives including SE5a fighters in Chilean; Russian and American services. These are from a MisterCraft 1:48 kit that inexplicably provided their double sheet in the smaller scale! Bad luck for those building this ex-Merit kit, but great for those modelling Revell versions. We have included the kit's expansive full-colour guide with multiple images of the aircraft and FS/RAL paint references for over 20 colours. LATE WAR TRIUMVERATE!

THESE were the final set of three 1:72 scale WWI aeroplane kits from Revell first released in 1966 and frequently re-issued thereafter. Our collection of 'Group 4' kits are the US versions with Jack Lynnwood's great box art although the instructions are copyrighted Revell GB. All three kits' contents are mint, but while two of the boxes are somewhat crumpled in places, this does not detract from Jack's  fine brushwork. Each include the trademark Revell stands...

* The Fokker Triplane is moulded in light grey and comes with a choice of markings for Werner and Manfred-who else? This is a generally accurate miniature of the fabled triplane and just requires some cleaning up, reduction of heavily- moulded wing rib detail and refinement of the smaller items. Wing tip skids are moulded into the lower wing...

* The Nieuport 28 is moulded in pale grey and remains one of the best Revell WWI kits in their 1:72 scale range-what a pity no further such kits were forthcoming after this last batch. Another great kit and ours includes an extra two sets of AEF AS markings from a much more recent version.

*The Sopwith Triplane is moulded in light sand colour plastic and includes the large-area horizontal tailplane that extends the number of colour schemes applicable. To that end there's an extra decal sheet with a colourful alternative to the kit's rather bland choice.

All three kits have been checked for completeness and their parts have been re-bagged to prevent loss and are sold together as a set. THE WINGED SWORD!

ONE of many great 1:72 WWI aeroplane kits produced by Roden of Kiev in  the Ukraine, their Albatros D.III set a high bar and this particular model remains among their best. Cleverly-designed mouldings offer a wide choice of variables and the standard of moulding is high throughout. With detailed cockpit and Mercedes powerplant, this is an excellent model of the Albatros D.III which includes an expansive decal sheet with over 10 options. In addition, our kit includes another two decal sheets with a further eight alternative markings choices-quite the package...

AN AIRFIX AVRO SPECIAL!

ONE of several re-issues of the 1967 Airfix Avro 504 was this boxing from France which included alternative decals to the original issue, featuring the RAF Museum's well-known PC.10 doped E447 and an aluminium-doped RAF trainer serving in Egypt during the early 1920s. Contents are mint with the light grey moulded parts complemented by several carefully-selected cream-coloured spares from the 1967 kit, along with a second decal sheet that carries colourful insignia for a Swedish Naval example. The box also contains an-as new Print Scale decal  package with over a dozen colourful options graphically illustrated on a detailed colour-printed leaflet showcasing all the options. Entire contents are in mint condition, the unique package representing excellent value with its numerous extras.

BIFF!

Airfix have produced a number of quality WWI aircraft kits over the years initiated by this fine Bristol Fighter. 32 parts,plus display stand, provide a pretty accurate model of the wartime 'Biff' with restrained surface detail and refined 'struttage'. Our kit comes with extra parts from later mouldings with somewhat over-enthusiastic upgraded surface details that make for interesting comparisons... Other bonus items include three decal sheets, one being of more recent vintage  with alternative markings.

PETITE PLASTIC PUP!

Released in 1975 as a boxed Series 1 kit, the Airfix Sopwith Pup is considered by many as being one of their finest WWI models. 26 finely-detailed parts moulded in 'pale linen' make for a stand-out production. It build easily into a first-class model requiring only minimal corrections to the lower front fuselage and removal of heavy control horns-otherwise the overall finesse of the mouldings, coupled with accurate surface detail and scale outlines, is highly commendable. Our kit is in mint condition and contains a generous number of spares from several unbuilt Pup kits. BIRD OF PREY!

The fabulous Martinsyde F.4 Buzzard of 1918 never saw service in WWI and its superlative qualities never tested in combat. This May 2011 AZmodel injection-moulded kit is well engineered with excellent surface detail overall. We have one mint example in original packaging with resin engine and a decal sheet offering RAF and Belgian markings-full colour guides for which appear under the box. FABLED FLOATPLANES!

ONE of six Friedrichshafen resin kits issued in 2002,the Choroszy Modelbud 1:72 scale FF 33L is an exceptional model in every respect. Accurate in outline, superbly detailed throughout and including beaching dollies and trestles for display purposes the kit is a first class example of  resin production. Indeed so fine are wing and float struts they may not take kindly to robust treatment and substitutes from either Contrail or Strutz would pay dividends. Instruction sheets are exemplary and the generic decals for the three German variants provide all requisite national markings and fuselage Marine numbers. Contents are mint and the box is in equable condition.

THE 'STRETCHED' ONE!

RELEASED in 2006 Choroszy Modelbud's  long-fuselage Junkers D.I kit in 1:72 scale featuring hyper-detailed resin parts throughout is complete with authentic decals and a small clear film sheet for a windscreen.  Accurate in outline, the representation of the typical trademark Junkers corrugated skin is exemplary. GERMAN TWO-SEATER CLASSIC!

This 1:72 scale all-resin kit from Choroszy Modelbud was released in 2002 and reviewed in WS Vol. 18, No.2,March/April of that year. It is a beautifully crafted kit with some extraordinarily fine detail and is accurate in outline. Highpoints include the exquisite Benz motor and fully appointed cockpits, whilst the finesse of all control and flying surfaces is exemplary. Authentic decals provide a choice of well-known German and post-war Polish examples and our package also includes extra white metal and PE detail parts for good measure! As well as DATAFILE 71, another invaluable reference available on site is WINDSOCK International Vol.14, No.5,September/October 1998  with a unique four page photo archive of LVG C.V factory floor construction sequences from an original 1917 company catalogue!

Developed form the earlier D.I, this Kondor variant embodies the most common form of wing cellule from the period. A TOUCH OF THE AGO!

This unique package contains two all-resin kits of the German AGO C.IV both by Czechmaster from 1993 in basic form and again in 2007 with re-cast parts; lavish instruction sheets, colour guides and  multi-choice decal sheet of matching quality. Accurarate and extremely well detailed, the kits are among the very best of their kind and the choice of subject is highly original. One of these AGO aircraft, 8964/17, was captured by No. 32 Squadron RFC, despatched to the UK, assigned British capture number G57 and became subject of a detailed Ministry of Munitions Technical report published in 1917. This was used as basis for a unique two-part plans feature in WINDSOCK International . Both AGO kits are in near-mint condition. 

AN ANSALDO FLIES IN!

RELEASED by Fly in 2012 to 1:72 scale is this superbly moulded and detailed rendition of the famous Italian Ansaldo SVA 5 which comes with a choice of colourful post-war markings with two sets of decals, vac-formed windshield and several optional parts. DIVE BOMBER!

There have not been that many plastic kits produced of the WWII Blackburn Skua and this from the late-lamented Frog in 1956 must surely have been the first? Our survivor from the early Rovex years is complete and also includes extra spare parts including the long greenhouse canopy and decal sheet. All contents are carefully segregated into new Zip-lock polybags to avoid loss.

THE RACING SWALLOW!

Essentially a re-issue of the Kovozavody Prostejov Sopwith Swallow with fresh decals and an attractively presented box top with colour profiles and paint references underneath. Our kit is as new with all the contents repackaged in 'zip-loc' polythene bags replacing the dreaded cellophane sleeve with self-adhesive strip. The model is accurate and extremely well-crafted with subtle fuselage and wing/tailplane rib representations. Alternative parts, common to both kits, include  Clerget and Le Rhone engines; a choice of airscrews and cockpit coamings-one plain for the Scooter variant-the other with slots for the Swallow to accommodate the twin Vickers guns. Two styles of ailerons are supplied: one squared off, and rounded outlines for the Scooter. Actually, the latter's wing was somewhat smaller in span and area than that of the Swallow but we can excuse KP for not moulding a whole new wing, especially since reliable drawings are lacking.

SUMMER SWALLOW!

AN attractive parasol-winged Sopwith monoplane design that appeared in Summer 1918, the 'Scooter'  later begat  the twin Vickers-armed Swallow fighter developed for performance trials. This impressive little kit from Kovozavody Prostejov was released in 2024 together with a dedicated 'Scooter' kit [KPM 0165] containing alternative decals and which is also available in our shop. Very well detailed with sharp flying and control surfaces, the kit includes parts for both variants in the box. Decals provide markings for 'Sopwith Monoplane No.2' at two stages in its short life: as first completed in overall CDL with rudder stripes and white serial block; and then later with PC10 upper-surfaces and serial B9267 added. The third option is for the clear-doped 'Scooter' bearing the fuselage number K-135, an option also included in  KP's 0165 kit.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE TRIPLANE!

OMEGA's 2006 release of the 1916 Hansa Brandenburg CC triplane variant offered modellers the opportunity of adding a rare bird to their collection. The aircraft was more or less a standard CCI with modified wing cellule, increased wing gap, and reduced-area lower planes. This resin kit is in near mint condition with plenty of cockpit fittings, highly detailed Hiero powerplant and a wheeled beaching dolly for display. Decals provide markings for the sole example which require careful individual cutting from the backing sheet. *Bonus features include superior CCI decals plus two standing resin pilot figures in full flying gear! 

FURY SPECIAL WITH BONUS DECALS AND DRAWINGS!

THE very first plastic aeroplane Matchbox ever produced was  the Hawker Fury Mk.1 released way back in 1972 and which they re-issued in 1975; 1983 and 1990 before Revell of Germany picked it up as their catalogue No.04693 a decade later. Content of our kit is in perfect condition with both runners safely secured in separate polythene bags, as is the decal sheet with markings for K2065 of  No. 43 Squadron RAF backed by card for extra protection. Our unique package also includes extra decals for six alternative finishes provided by Print Scale on their 72-093 sheet with two pre-war RAF examples plus aircraft that served in Portuguese; Yugoslavian; SAAF and Spanish National air forces. *We have replaced the missing moulded windshield with thin acetate sheet along with 1:72 scale plans featuring suitable outlines for cutting out.

MALTA DEFENDER!

One of the first Gloster Gladiator plastic kits was from Airfix in 1956 following their Spitfire Mk.I released three years previously , the very first aircraft kit produced by the company that became a runaway sales success. Despite the worn paper header, this example is complete down to the original transfer sheet ; early style display stand and a packing slip that will bring back fond memories for many older modellers. The kit parts are clean and  surprisingly most of them  have remained on their runner after all these years inside the original polythene bag. For kit collectors, this now rare early Airfix product is a true classic and something of a novelty... 

BLUE BIRD!
 

This 1963 Airfix Albatros D.V reissue was moulded in a mauve-bluish plastic and had the benefit of some much-needed retooling thanks to early American Airfix distributors MPC. Our example 's plastic is near mint although the decal sheet and paper header have suffered a little over the decades. Basically accurate in outline, the kit's upgraded surface detail is far superior to the original 1957 release improving a reasonably sound model even further, one which still holds up pretty well despite its age. This particular kit was reserved for a 10-year-old Rimell by
The Model Shop in St. Anne's Road, Harrow which explains the  customer reference in Biro on the header's reverse!

AN EARLY BIRD!

One of the very first Airfix Albatros kits (Pattern No. 1393) from the second production run when the header artwork was changed along with the company logo. Moulded in silver, it is complete and the plastic remains in very good condition although the decals are beyond their sell-by date and the wrapper decidedly worn and torn-it still bears the original pencilled price of 2/- and was probably purchased form F W Woolworths. For the period, the kit is basically sound although subsequent issues would be irrevocably altered by American MPC/Airfix-but that's quite another story...

AN ADMIRABLE AVRO!

Airfix have produced a number of famous RAF trainers over the years:Tiger Moth; Harvard; Chipmunk et al and their 504K is a worthy addition to the canon. 37 well-moulded parts build into an authentic model of this famous design which was built in great numbers and during a long career served as night-fighters; light bombers and floatplanes, whilst it enjoyed extensive civilian life after WWI. This is an excellent example of the first 1967 production run and includes a choice of markings on its large decal sheet. The kit has been reissued several times over the years with new decals-including ER1772 in overall aluminium and which has been re-introduced this year in the popular Airfix 'Vintage Classics' ranges.   

'ONE OF FOUR...'

Issued in 1967 the 1:72 Airfix DH4 remains one of the best WWI British aircraft kits ever produced in this scale. Our kit lacked its original Lewis/rear gun mounting and the shortfall has been made good by extra runners that also provide airscrew and four additional bombs. The kit is in its original pale cream plastic and is not only accurate in outline, but also extremely well detailed especially fuselage halves with fabric wrinkles! All parts are in VCG although both decal sheet and paper header are a little careworn-a more recent decal sheet is included and  various loose parts have been individually bagged.

NO FRILLS FOKKER!

1957 saw release of the Airfix Fokker DR.I Triplane,  one of their most basic 1:72 scale models and unsurprisingly in bright red plastic for one of the Baron's machines. With only 24 parts the kit was quick to assemble,despite the extra wing, and looked OK  when carefully built and painted even if it was slightly smaller than true 1:72 scale! Our example is one of the earliest with the 'Type 1' paper header bearing Charles Oates vivid art and is slightly creased. On the other hand plastic content is sound missing just one u/c leg which has been cured by an extra parts runner being included. Alternative decals for Voss' F.I 103/17 are also in the packet.

'HANNOVERANA'!

THIS remains one of the best WWI aircraft kits Airfix ever did and their Hannover Cl.IIIa builds into a generally accurate model straight out of the polythene bag... 31 pale blue parts with better than average surface detail and aside from some wayward fuselage sections, all outlines accord almost perfectly with recent scale drawings of the type.Both Spandau and Parabellum guns are neatly done with observer's ammunition strip and light bomb loads adding interest around the rear cockpit. Painting represented the greatest challenge in 1967 as plentiful and authentic 'lozenge' decals were not widely available back in 1967 so committed modellers found hand-painting the tiny ten-colour patterns their only recourse. In later years  ranges of quality printed fabric decals have appeared to greatly ease the finishing stage of  classic kits like the Airfix Hannover...

'HARRY TATE' !

ONE of four Airfix 1:72 scale WWI kits produced in 1957, the RE8 has been a staple of their annual catalogues on and off ever since and is well overdue for a re-tool! Our original is from initial production runs with minimalistic surface detail overall and undernourished crewmen. It's reasonably accurate for its time and with care and dedication an excellent RE8 can result. Apart from the yellowed decal sheet and worn paper header, plastic content is mint with only a few parts on the loose which we've bagged separately to thwart the dreaded 'carpet monster.'... 

SEA-GOING SOPWITH!

Released in 1957, the Airfix Sopwith Camel represented the 2F.1 'Ship's Camel' with single Vickers gun ahead of the pilot and an over-wing Lewis. Accurate, with reasonably realistic surface detail, this venerable model kit contain just 26 parts and requires only minimal modification to enhance it further. Wing and centre-section struts are quite fine and setting up the wings could prove tricky as as the instruction's stagger sketch is that of the Fokker Triplane! Markings feature Culley's famous N6812 which he flew off a towed platform on 10 August 1918 to destroy Zeppelin L53 over the North Sea. Our early kit is in VCG aside from yellowing decals an slightly creased header.

OLD CHARLIE! 

Guynemer's fabled SPAD VII immortalised in 1:72 scale by Airfix in their 1967 kit 129. It builds into an accurate representation of the classic French fighter in 29 parts moulded in beige-colours varied-with realistic surface detail on fuselage halves. Wing ribs are somewhat over-emphasised but can be sanded back. Our example is complete, with plastic content in near-mint  condition and includes an extra main-plane pre-sanded to remove ribs ready for paint and decal tapes. Three decal sheets include one from a later issue. Colour schemes for these SPADS are legion-the type serving in British; Belgian; Russian and Italian units as well as its native France offering multiple choice of finish.

 ARMOURED ALBATROS!

THE rugged 1917 Albatros J.I armoured ground attack aircraft immortalised by two superlative all-resin kits from Choroszy Modelbud   in 2002-this is the German version [Kit No.A66] and comes with extra decals. With superb detail and razor-sharp trailing edges to all flying surfaces, the kit is accurate in outline and boasts fully detailed cockpit areas plus full armament- and it's in mint condition...

 FORGOTTEN FIGHTER!

JUST one of myriad WWI 1:72 scale all-resin kits from prolific Choroszy Modelbud of Krakow, Poland.  This little gem is an exacting miniature of the 1918 Albatros D.XI prototype (L41) 2209/18 (w/n 5045) that first flew in May1918*. With its tightly-cowled 80-hp Siemen-Halske rotary, 'wireless' wing geometry and spindly undercarriage it was a radical departure from previous Albatros fighter designs. It never entered production, neither did its partner 2208/18 -both performing poorly in Fighter Competitions.However, it's an interesting design that deserves a place in any collection of model Albatros fighters. This resin kit is of superb quality, finely-detailed and accurate in outline with fully-appointed cockpit. Decals and windscreen material are also included and all content is near mint.

FIRST ACROSS THE CHANNEL! 

Here is an original Frog Trail-Blazing Bleriot XI monoplane as first released in 1965. Despite the weathered and compromised box, the contents are complete, right down to a pseudo patch of Dover turf; a French flag fluttering from a pole and a standing Louis Bleriot figure. Despite the unavoidable limitations imposed by the small scale, the kit can be worked on to achieve a pleasing result. Just one available.

SALMSON-POWERED SHORT...

Karaya 1:72 scale all-resin classic with RNAS decals and parts for a nine-cylinder Salmson engine that powered this variant. Includes beaching trolley and tail trestle plus PE detail parts for cockpit internals and spoked wheels for the trolley. VGC.

PFALZ ON THE 'PFLAT'

Warplanes' vacform Pfalz D.III (sic) produced by Rareplanes in 1976-no decals were included. Despite its label this has the large area tailplane of a D.IIIa which can easily be cut down to suit.The parts require careful treatment when wresting from their backing sheet, not to mention some fettling, but the results can be surprisingly satisfying. This unopened example is virtually mint and we have added six extensive decal sheets offering multiple finishes for the model-you'll be spoilt for choice! 

NIGHT OWL!

Moulded by Revell (GB) of Potters Bar in 1967, this near-mint 1:72 scale Heinkel HE-219 'Owl' night-fighter is moulded in Revell's trademark pale blue plastic with a single transparency for the tandem cabin. This is a well-detailed and easy to assemble model although it is inevitably a tail-sitter' without nose weights: although a clear plastic 'prop' under the rear fuslage would do just as well. The decal sheet, whilst uncreased, may not hold together unless the entire surface has been pre-lacquered in clear acrylic. That aside, the contents are in first class order and include a sheet of 1:72 scale German WWII fin crosses that we are not able to illustrate here!!!
