PFALZ ON THE 'PFLAT'
Warplanes' vacform Pfalz D.III (sic) produced by Rareplanes in 1976-no decals were included. Despite its label this has the large area tailplane of a D.IIIa which can easily be cut down to suit.The parts require careful treatment when wresting from their backing sheet, not to mention some fettling, but the results can be surprisingly satisfying. This unopened example is virtually mint and we have added six extensive decal sheets offering multiple finishes for the model-you'll be spoilt for choice!
THIS was the first in Gordon Stevens' ('Mr. Rareplanes') 1:72 scale vacform Warbirds series from 1976 when the WWI model market was beginning to enjoy a gradually growing renaissance. This excellent vacform of the Pfalz D.III-actually a D.IIIA according to the large area tailplane-is offered as purchased within in its original stapled bag that has never been opened. However, as a bonus we have added a number of Pfalz D.III and D.IIIa decals culled from later injection-moulded kits that will eminently suit this model. They include both D.III and D.IIIa sheets by Meikraft Models ( both with two small crosses removed); Roden D.III and D.IIIa decals (both intact) and a pair from Mac Distribution-also unused... None of these come with painting notes or placement guides but most subjects are pretty well-known and already covered by various publications including the three DATAFILES still available in our shop. Also included with this unique package is a tiny Mac PE sheet which offers some useful add-ons for the nimble-fingered amongst you.The Warbirds Pfalz was the subject of a builder's log in the October 1980 'Special Biplane' issue of Scale Models and some photos of the finished model are shown here.
