ECLECTIC EINDECKERS!
SOLD here as a pair, these late 1916-dated Fokker fighters from ICM provide accurate and well-detailed miniatures of the ultimate multi-gunned, multi-engined Eindeckers with their distinctive deeper cowlngs that feature plentiful cooling slots. Both kits are brand new and complete, with all parts now repackaged in polybags for added protection although the heavy-duty boxes are more than sufficient for purpose. All contents are mint and complete and come with detailed instructions and painting notes as well as parts' layouts and rigging guides. The Pfalz is particularly attractive with customary black-painted areas, although the trademark black surrounds and rib battens will require careful representation using after-market decal strips and the fuselage will also require shortening...
HERE are two ICM Eindecker kits sold as a pair-one Fokker and one Pfalz-both taking the ultimate form of these early fighter monoplanes. Moulded in mid grey, all the parts are cleanly-moulded throughout with realistic surface details and plenty of fine items with undercarriage and pylons being particularly well wrought. No photo etch but both come with minuscule transparent windscreen and wing compass cover-all runners are bagged separately. Whilst wing and tail components are clearly influenced by the much earlier classic Revell Eindecker with rather heavy rib detail, both kits build into accurate representations of the originals and feature those distinctive perforated deep cowlings, twin-row Oberursel rotary engines and multiple armament.
Decal sheets provide national markings without the usual white panels so these will need to be painted on or else resource to solid white decal material will be necessary.The Fokker [72111] features two examples flown by Immelmann and Boelcke although the requisite fuselage markings are absent so painting them is the only option. This is much the same with the Pfalz that offers up E.IV monoplanes flown by Berthold and Grunzweig. Both kits provide two identical runners*with a third that bears the relevant pieces applicable. These are both excellent productions and will make important additions to your Eindecker collections.
*Bear in mind that fuselage length and wing panel dimensions differed. Most crucially the Pfalz fuselage is about 12.5mm shorter than the Fokker's so the plastic parts will need to be altered to accord with the DATAFILE 59 drawings on page 23...
