1:72 FROG BLERIOT XI

FIRST ACROSS THE CHANNEL!

Here is an original Frog Trail-Blazing Bleriot XI monoplane as first released in 1965. Despite the weathered and compromised box, the contents are complete, right down to a pseudo patch of Dover turf; a French flag fluttering from a pole and a standing Louis Bleriot figure. Despite the unavoidable limitations imposed by the small scale, the kit can be worked on to achieve a pleasing result. Just one available.

ONE of the original Frog 'Trail-Blazers' series produced by the Rovex company in 1965. The 1909 cross-channel Bleriot  XI (Kit No. F173) is moulded in cream plastic and comes complete with a few novel display materials some of which were discontinued in later issues: a section of green paper grass; a flag pole with paper tricolour and a standing figure of Louis Bleriot himself-more than double the size of the accompanying seated version! There were no decals of course. Our example is in good condition with some parts having long been dislodged from their frames but all have been carefully re-bagged to avoid loss. That fold-out tray style box has not fared as well as its contents however and is somewhat battered. Nevertheless it's what's inside that really matters and this pioneering little plastic kit is a charming miniature of a pre-WWI aircraft subject which was quite a novelty at the time.
