1:72 CMR AGO C.IV, (5025), 2007

A TOUCH OF THE AGO!

This unique package contains two all-resin kits of the German AGO C.IV both by Czechmaster from 1993 in basic form and again in 2007 with re-cast parts; lavish instruction sheets, colour guides and  multi-choice decal sheet of matching quality. Accurarate and extremely well detailed, the kits are among the very best of their kind and the choice of subject is highly original. One of these AGO aircraft, 8964/17, was captured by No. 32 Squadron RFC, despatched to the UK, assigned British capture number G57 and became subject of a detailed Ministry of Munitions Technical report published in 1917. This was used as basis for a unique two-part plans feature in WINDSOCK International . Both AGO kits are in near-mint condition.

THE distinctive-looking 1915 AGO C.IV featured an unique tapered wing plan-form while lacking inner wings struts either side to improve the gunner's forward field of fire. Although 500 were ordered in May/June 1916,only 90 ever reached Front-line units and the type had been withdrawn by September the following year. In 1993 Czechmasters released a high quality resin kit-sans decals-with extremely fine parts distributed over five thin 'webs' demanding great care in their removal.

In 2007 the CMR AGO C.IV was completely overhauled and attractively boxed with multi-choice decals and individual, separated parts in an improved resin material. As before the accurate outlines; convincing surface detail with exquisite fully-appointed engine and comprehensive cockpit elements upheld the manufacturer's high standards. Again, care is required during assembly as some smaller parts are extremely fine and prone to damage such as an undercarriage leg on our kit that has parted ways-easily re-instated with a spot of Cyano'.

Included in the box are three view drawings; much improved exploded assembly diagram and separate sheets of colour scheme guides with painting notes for the trio of decal options: 8987/17 June 1917; 'Nr.3' of Fl.Abt. 284a circa early 1917 and captured 8964/17 complete with RFC roundels and rudder stripes.

'EXTRAS!' This is a special double kit set unique to our webstore that includes not only the complete 2007 reissue [reviewed in WINDSOCK International Vol.23,No.3, May/June 2007 and still available from our store*], but also the original 1994 edition as reviewed in WINDSOCK International Vol.9, No.6, Nov/Dec 1993.

AGO archiv: Peter M Grosz presented 20 rare photos of the aircraft from his unique collection providing authentic historical background, supported by Ian Stair's accurate 1:48 and 1:72 scale drawings over two editions of WINDSOCK International: Vol.9, No.6,Nov/Dec 1993 and Vol.10, No.1,Jan/Feb 1994.
