THE CLASSIC FRENCH WAR HORSE!
One of several 1:72 scale French Breguet 14 plastic kits produced by AZmodel, this is their special 'Silver' release with resin bomb load and PE extras. Our example is in mint condition with all plastic, resin and nickel photo etch detail parts in their original polythene wallets. An excellent decal sheet offers a pair of French Escadrille machines circa 1917 and a post-Armistice Polish air force example Full colour guides are presented under the box with three-views providing camouflage patterns for two of the colourful choices. There's also a bonus item in the shape of a 1:72 decal sheet with markings for three post war European aircraft.
AZmodel of the Czech Republic released their first 1:72 scale WWI Breguet 14 kits in 2007 and five years later this upgraded 'Silver' edition with three markings' options, modified fuselage halves incorporating the large illuminating panels and both Michelin bomb racks and Sandow sprung flaps incorporated into lower wings.* The kit includes extra 'PUR' resin parts: internal exhaust 'platform' with six 115mm Michelin and eight short pattern bombs to fit the PE carriers supplied. A PE sheet provides cockpit floor; Eteve gun rings; dashboard and louvered under-nose section. Printed clear film takes care of cockpit instrumentation and fuselage glazing.
Beneath the box are full colour guides for the three options;1917 14B2 N.1300 of French Escadrille Br.107 with Egyptian serpent markings; N.1168, also French, from Br.66 and a post-war Polish Breguet 14B2 N.12458 of the 4th Eskadra. Decals are superb and crisply-printed although the French blue centre spots are somewhat undernourished. Rudder legends are accurately portrayed in atypical fonts but lack the tricolour stripes which will need to be painted. As a bonus there is an additional sheet from AZ7207 offering European service alternatives with post-war Greek; Turkish and Czech insignia although no colour refs are supplied. *The kit was reviewed in WINDSOCK Worldwide Vol.28, No.6, November/December 2012.
