1:48 INPACT FAIREY FLYCATCHER (P104),1968
CARRIER BORNE!
THIS 1:48 scale kit of the Fairey Flycatcher from Inpact Kits was released in 1968, the first time the type had been produced in model form. It was typical of the manufacturer's products, being well-moulded; highly-detailed with accurate outlines and excellent instructions that provided painting notes and rigging directions throughout assembly stages. The kit is complete and comes with the two-piece stand and roll of black Nylusta rigging line. Two sets of decals present markings for S1286 aboard HMS Glorious in 1931 bearing No.405 Flight's distinctive yellow markings- one of the sheets is a unique ex-Life-Like dry-pressure version. The box is a little careworn but the contents are complete and in mint condition although the waterslide decal sheet will benefit from a spray coat of clear acrylic...
*CONTAINS EXTRA PARTS,DECALS & TWO PERIOD PHOTOS!
ONE of four Inpact Kits released in 1968 as part of their 'Classic Fighter Series' was this unique Fairey Flycatcher 'Fleet Fighter' of 1923. Designed by F Duncanson, over 190 were produced and served exclusively with the Fleet Air Am in the 1930s. The Inpact kit contains over 64 finely-moulded parts with a superbly-created ten part Armstrong-Siddeley Jaguar III radial engine and authentic rib representation on all flying surfaces. Fuselage halves bear realistic surface detail and include several cockpit parts and a four-piece pilot should you wish to use it. All control surfaces are integrally moulded but can be animated by a few runs of a sharp scalpel blade. Instructions are typical of these great kits with exploded diagram and additional sketches when adding rigging material and applying detail painting throughout the construction phases. Two large decal sheet provides markings for S1286, a Flycatcher of No. 405 Flight aboard HMS Glorious in 1931 with black-bordered yellow sash encircling the rear fuselage: one of them is an unusual dry-pressure Life-Like sheet in good condition; the waterslide decals look OK but a coat or two of gloss acrylic is recommended. All parts-some separated- are in mint condition and have been secured in several poly-bags to mitigate against loss or damage. The original display stand, reel of rigging material and some extra spare parts are also in the box...
