THE BULLDOG BREED!

THE burly Bristol Bulldog Mk.IIa was another of Frank Barnwell's wonderful aircraft designs, the first production machine making its maiden flight at Filton on 17 May 1927. Entering RAF service two years later, the powerful and highly aerobatic Bulldog  eventually equipped nine squadrons and was only replaced in 1937 by the Gladiator. Inpact's 1:48 scale kit is an exceptional model for the time with accurate outlines and hyper-realistic surface detail throughout. With many fine detail parts, it stacks up well against recent Airfix kits and provides a colourful decal sheet with markings of K2171 that served with No.32 Squadron RAF, flown by B Flight's Commander with its bright yellow trim.

*CONTAINS EXTRA PARTS, DECALS, SQUADRON MARKINGS CHART & TWO PERIOD PHOTOS!

ONE of the most well-known of serving RAF fighter biplanes between the World Wars was the pugnacious Bristol Bulldog Mk. IIa, yet another of Captain Frank Barnwell's highly successful designs. Constructed of steel frames covered with fabric, typical aircraft  construction of the early 1930s era, it was powered by the Jupiter VIIF radial and pilots found it to be a superb aerobatic machine. Inpact's 1968 injection-moulded kit, highly accurate and well detailed throughout, set new standards for vintage aircraft models in 1:48 scale at the time. The mainplane is in three parts with the internal fuel tank bulges precisely portrayed, as are wing rib and fuselage stringer treatment. Cockpit interior is neatly designed and the 15 piece Jupiter is a real work of art. Smaller items include a lower wing generator and propeller; Holt flare brackets; navigation lights and four really delicate aerial posts for the upper wing. These items are usually missing from most extant kits but we have them in ours...Fully-detailed assembly instructions offer painting and rigging notes along the way with a helpful diagrams. Decals provide markings for No.23 Squadron Commander's B Flight K-2171 with its blue unit markings, yellow fin and wheel discs. Our kits' boxes may be battered but their plastic content is in perfect shape with parts repackaged in new poly bags. *Bonus items include a number of spare engine and windscreen parts; a decal sheet from the Lindberg version of the kit featuring K-2151 from No.23 Squadron RAF and an anonymous  1931 Swedish machine, plus a full colour RAF squadron markings chart and a pair of  original period photos from our own archive!
