1:48 FLASHBACK MORANE SAULNIER I (KLH 89 13) 1998

MUNIFICENT MORANE!

ONE of several upgrades to earlier Eduard 1:48 WWI kits was this Flashback re-pop of 1998 with all-new resin parts and additional photo-etched sheets-three being included*. A fully detailed instruction sheet presents invaluable rigging diagrams and multi-view painting layouts for the three decal choices on offer. The original 1994 Eduard plastic parts have not been refreshed-there being little reason to given they were accurate and well detailed in the first place. For the Type I variant the wing trailing edges were usually of piano wire and it's a simple enough matter to carefully recreate the distinctive 'scalloping ' between each rib position by careful sanding.

**Bonus items include a four page plans feature reprinted from  the November 1972 edition of Scale Models  and better yet, a 1:48 scale pair of completely scratch-built and painted spoked wheels made by Harry himself back in  the day!

THIS is an excellent reworking of the original 1994 Eduard Morane Saulnier Type N (8010)-see WS Vol.11,No.2 for review-  with additional resin detail parts and some extras of our own! This unique limited edition of only 999 units from Flashback was released in 1998 and includes a trio of comprehensive PE detail sheets-one of which provides a pair of flat skis; resin cockpit appointments; airscrew blades; Vickers MG; ammunition feeds; and Lobonov 'sled-type' skis. The fold-out instruction sheet is equally exemplary with its well-detailed assembly diagrams; full rigging diagrams and annotated profiles for the three decal options. Russian examples from the 2nd, 4th and 19th Corps Detachments are catered for with fuselage pennants and the iconic skull-marked Type I flown by Ivan Smirnov. All contents are mint.

EXTRAS! Bonus items include a four page printed plans feature on the Morane by Harry Woodman reprinted from the November 1972 edition of Scale Models. It provides history; period photos and 1:48 scale drawings by Ian Stair resulting from his personal research at the Musee de l'Air. Not only this, but there's also a pair of completed and painted 1:48 scale spoked wheels scratch-built by Harry himself adding the final touch to a truly unique package!
