1:48 BLUE MAX VICKERS GUN BUS (BM207), 2004
FIRST IN FRONT-LINE SQUADRONS!
THIS excellent Blue Max kit from 2004 builds into an authentic model of the Vickers FB.5 in 1:48 scale using a clever combination of injection-moulded plastic and white metal*. Overall surface detail present on nacelle halves and wing/tail components is restrained and convincing, whilst the many Pewter detail parts add gravitas to the proceedings. With carefully-packed silk-screened decals offering a choice of two RFC examples from 1915, the content is completed by four stiff wire booms to hold everything together. The kit has detailed colour notes on its instruction leaflet, as well as an exploded assembly diagrams and model photos.

ANOTHER mint example of a Blue Max kit-this is the Vickers FB.5 'Gun Bus',an excellent choice of subject that builds into an impressive miniature of the first aeroplane to enter unit service with the RFC, No.11 being the first ever Front Line fighter squadron. It played a substantial role in defeating the 'Fokker Scourge' along with the DH2 and Fe2b. The model will demand more care and some experience building it when evolving the tail booms that need to support the fairly heavy tail assembly-the content helpfully providing four lengths of stout wire for the purpose. Compressive selection of Pewter parts include the multi-piece Monosoupape rotary; nacelle interior parts, armament and interplane struts. All these are in perfect condition as are the plastic contents. Decals provide markings for 1638,with large Union Flag wing markings, and 2874 of No.5 Squadron-both in CDL finish.
