1:48 BLUE MAX ROLAND D.VI (BM117), 2003
'KLINKERRUMPF'!
ONE of the most attractive of WWI German fighter designs to enter service, although its pleasing appearance was not matched with a good performance despite the Bz.IIIa powerplant. This example of BM 117 which was released in July 2003, is in near-mint condition with all parts checked and secured within separate polythene zip-loc bags to ensure safe transit. The plastic and metal parts are of the usual top quality and bear realistic surface detail with the planked fuselage being particularly well represented.

MINT example of the Blue Max Roland D.VI fighter kit released in 2003.Produced like all these Chris Gannon-produced kits in both metal and plastic,it was an accurate model of the 1917 fighter powered by the 185-hp Benz Bz.IIIa motor and with the D.VIa initiated the 'clinker' type of ancient boat construction that could trace its origins back to the Vikings centuries before. The kit provides alternative horizontal tailplane/elevator parts to accord with the D.VIa and D.VIb decals options. These provide markings for an unidentified Jasta 23b machine with black and white striped rear fuselage and tailplane along with D.VI 2225/18 from an unidentified unit in late 1918. Full painting instructions are provided on the illustrated leaflet which also presents an exploded assembly diagram with photos of the interior fittings in situ.
