1:48 AJP MAQUETTE SPAD S.A .2

FROM THE PULPIT

AJP Maquette PE brass frame and tissue covered model of the French 'pulpit' fighter, the 1916 SPAD A.2 with all parts in brass plus a white metal engine and airscrew-and rubber tyres. Ample supply of fabric-coloured tissue is supplied to cover the main assemblies-you can use a Pritt stick for this. An excellent project to get stuck into! One only in VGC.

The French SPAD A.2 Fighter of 1916 got around the problem of shooting a machine gun through the airscrew arc by placing the engine and propeller behind the gunner who sat precariously in a flimsy nacelle anchored to the undercarriage and upper wing. This is a virtually all-brass airframe production featuring wafer-thin fuselage/tailplane/main flying/control surfaces which are to be covered in the fabric-coloured tissue paper supplied. Other parts include a  white metal Lr Rhone, airscrew and Lewis gun plus metal rods/axle,and rubber tyres for the spoked wheels. As well as the open framework major parts the hyper-detailed set of brass PE parts providing firewall;metal side panels behind the engine; delicate mesh screens, aileron control rods, protective screens for the  gunner/observer and much more besides.Generous amounts of cream tissue paper are supplied along with full building instructions and a rigging schematic.Altogether a very well-produced mixed-media kit for experienced modellers that builds into one of the most distinctive French fighters of the early war period.
